He knows his lane and he manages to bring you into his orbit so you can see the world from his point of view. Because of this, having Law usher us into the world of HBO’sThe Third Dayis necessary. A show with this many ideas, numerous performances in varying degrees of effectiveness, mixed direction and writing, and one hell of a mid-season event requires a North Star like Law, who turns in a compelling, top-notch performance....

Let’s not beat around the bush here; odds are, you’re very familiar withTom Feltonfrom theHarry Potterfilm franchise and you know ofTammin Sursok’s work in the hit seriesPretty Little Liars. Both are great, but if you’re not aware of what they’re up to beyond those claims to fame, you’re missing out. Full disclosure: I’ve only seen the first and fourthTransformersin full, and fragments of the other ones on TV while poorly nursing a hangover or wasting a Sunday afternoon. And with the arguable exception of the first film, which is largely serviceable if not very good, spending my time with MonsieurMichael Bay, as well as the Autobots and Decepticons, has been a regrettable, even loathsome activity. Still, it’s hard to ignore the things Bay gets right....
