One of the most radical thingsBlack Lightningdid in its Season 1 finale was not kill off its main villain Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III). Though many other lesser villains left this mortal coil, the central struggle between our hero Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) and Tobias will remain. It was a really refreshing choice, actually, because it means that the show doesn’t have to reinvent itself around a new villain. There will be other trials, of course, but Tobias is too good of a character to be a one-and-done....

Consequences can be a trouble area for so many of The CW’s DC shows. With such long seasons (typically around 22 episodes), consequences are often arbitrary or short-lived. Remember whenThe Flashgave a single episode to Flashpoint, where Barry essentially splits the timeline? Though there was fallout teased from that and other “major” moments within theArrow-verse (the explosion of Lian Yu, as another example), it’s rare to find any real commitment to follow-through....

YouTube Red has decided to renew their nostalgia-focused series, based on theKarate Kidfranchise, for a second season that will run for 10 episodes and air in 2019 (and continue to starRalph MacchioandWilliam Zabka, of course).
