It’s been a quiet year for bothJason BatemanandTaron Egerton, who have yet to appear in any projects thus far, but their next team-up endeavor just got an exciting first look.Entertainment Weeklyhas the first images fromCarry On, the upcoming travel thriller set to hit Netflix on December 13. The film follows Ethan (Egerton), a TSA agent who is contacted by a traveler (Bateman), a terrorist who blackmails him into allowing a dangerous package onto a flight that endangers the life of everyone in the airport....

The LGBTQ+ community has a long, historical connection to the horror genre, going all the way back to 19th-century gothic novels. So it’s no surprise that some of the best queer cinema of the past century has been of the horrific variety. Whether they’re atmospheric thrillers or dark comedies, horror movies have always provided a space for great queer representation. Appropriately,Shudder, the undeniable home of horror streaming, has quite a few great LGBTQ+ films available in their library....

[Update:The new release date is July 28th] There was a bit of a marketing deluge forThe Dark Towerback in July when we got the first images from the movie along with a bunch of details about the plot. However, Sony has been fairly quiet on the film since then. WhenSteve Weintraub interviewed Sony Pictures chairmanTom Rothmanlast month, Rothman said we should expect to see the first trailer for the film around Christmas, which is a bit surprising considering that the film, the start of a tentpole franchise for the studio, was due out on July 31, 2025....

These days, it seemsmovies based on IP are inescapable. From the endless string of superhero films toreboots and remakes, and even films based ontheme park attractions, it seems that the age of the franchise will be here to stay for some time. Interestingly, though, movies based on popular video games have often yielded mixed results. There are occasional successes, such asThe Super Mario Bros.
