With the reveal thatAvengers: Doomsdaybegins filming this April,Marvelfans and audiences only know one thing: Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) is coming… and it’s not going to be pretty. This is sure to be the biggest challenge the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have ever faced, and it’s safe to say that if Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is going to be forming a new team of Avengers to face this threat, then he’s going to need some heavy hitters. Thankfully, the MCU still has great heroes to defend it after losing some of the leaders, like Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).
The growing need for a good Avengers team grows even more when the looming threat of the other worlds in the multiverse become threats to the Sacred Timeline. Not only do they need heavy hitters physically, but mentally and skillfully, as well.A well-balanced team is important, much like the original one established inThe Avengerswas.

10Moon Knight (Marc Spector/Stephen Grant/Jake Lockley)
Played by Oscar Isaac
One of themost popular MCU Disney+ serieswasMoon Knightwhen it was first released in March 2022. Not only did the casting ofOscar Isaacexcite everyone, being one of the most popular actors in the game right now, but Marvel fans have been asking for The Fist of Konshu to have a live-action project of some sort for quite some time.
It was one of the most positively received MCU television shows in quite some time, too (aside fromLoki, of course). It was a new type of hero for the cinematic universe that was super unique compared to the other heroes in the Marvel world in the series' history. The way it rooted itself in Egyptian mythology is phenomenal.

Moon Knight
Steven Grant discovers he’s been granted the powers of an Egyptian moon god. But he soon finds out that these newfound powers can be both a blessing and a curse to his troubled life.
9Star-Lord (Peter Quill)
Played by Chris Pratt
While for his entire MCU career, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) was a member of the iconic Guardians of the Galaxy. First introduced inGuardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord was taken from Earth at a very young age by the Ravagers. Everyone knew that at the end of his character arc, he’d have to return to his home planet at some point. After his big MCU ending inAvengers: Endgame, he returned home and moved in with his Grandfather, Jason Quill (Gregg Henry).
With Quill now back home and light discussions of a Star-Lord solo project by bothKevin FeigeandJames Gunn, he now has the perfect opportunity to transition from ex-Guardian to Avenger. It would make for a super-fun dynamic with the other characters to have such a fish-out-of-water.It’d almost be like the Captain America dynamic but in a likely more humorous tone.

Guardians of the Galaxy
A group of intergalactic criminals must pull together to stop a fanatical warrior with plans to purge the universe.
8Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)
Played by Brie Larson
If one thing is true, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) has already more than proven her worth of being an Avenger. Getting to be on the previous team in the years betweenAvengers: Infinity Warand throughAvengers: Endgame, she already knows how to work on the team and if anyone is going tobe a powerhouse in strength, it’ll be her.
She may be a more space-based hero, but she definitely can belong to the Avengers. Especially if this new threat is going to be coming from the multiverse. Additionally, Doctor Doom, in the comics, is one of the strongest Marvel villains of all time. Characters like Kate Bishop, would not be able to go hand-to-hand with the tyrant, and they’ll need someone to.Who better than this woman of abundant power?

Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
7Doctor Stephen Strange
Played by Benedict Cumberbatch
Ever since the Mystic Arts were introduced inDoctor Strange, the character has become an absolute fan-favorite. Having a sorcerer included in the team is extremely valuable. There are rumors that he won’t be appearing inAvengers: Doomsday, being potentially busy in the multiverse (due to the end credits scene ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), but if he’s got the time, he’d be super important to have.
If the MCU is going to take more inspiration from the comics, Doctor Doom is going to bean extremely powerful magic user, andthe only living person on Earth who can stand up against that is the Master of the Mystic Arts.In the books, him and Doom actually have quite a history. With the most recent Marvel Comics event,Blood Hunt (2024), inBlood Hunt #5 (2024), Doom took the role of Sorcerer Supreme from Stephen.

Doctor Strange
While on a journey of physical and spiritual healing, a brilliant neurosurgeon is drawn into the world of the mystic arts.
6The Hulks (Bruce Banner & Jennifer Walters)
Played by Mark Ruffalo & Tatiana Maslany
The Hulks (Mark Ruffalo&Tatiana Maslany) kind of have to be conjoined. One will most likely come with the other, so no point in only recruiting one. The best part about getting both Hulks on the Avengers team is that while Bruce Banner definitely isn’t the strong green rage monster he used to be, that strength can be brought through She-Hulk.
… while Bruce Banner definitely isn’t the strong green rage monster he used to be, that strength can be brought through She-Hulk.
Due to his injury,Hulk will most likely take up the role of the brains of the team, while his relative will most certainly be what the Hulk used to beon the previous team. They also have an incredible dynamic that will make it very easy for them to work together and make some green magic happen on the battlefield against Doom.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law
5Black Panther (Shuri)
Played by Letitia Wright
After the horrible loss of the legendaryChadwick Bosemanand, in turn, the Black Panther character, the folks over at Marvel Studios decided to be as respectful as possible and chose not to recast the character and rather hand the mantle down to the hero’s younger sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright). The Avengers need a connection to Wakanda, because all the technology and resources they havewould be absolutely vital. Aside from that, who else is going to fund the new team?
Shuri’s character arc inBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreveris astounding and really sets her apart from the type of hero her brother was.Her genius-level intellect, combined with Bruce Banner’s, would make for some absolutely smart folks on the team. Because, not only is Doom a great magic user, but he too has genius-level intellect. They’ll need some strong brains to combat that.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
4Shang-Chi
Played by Simu Liu
WhilePhase Four of Marvel Studiosgot a lot of flak for some of the projects' qualities, one of the best releases of the phase and post-Avengers: Endgameoverall wasShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The biggest plus that the new iteration of the team would get from Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), is the Ten Rings. They’re some of the most powerful objects in the MCU.
If the rumors are true andAvengers: Doomsdayis going to lead intoAvengers: Secret Wars(due to the directors stating they’re filming pretty much back-to-back),it’s likely that Doctor Doom is going to continue being a huge issue for them. The only things powerful enough to hopefully kick his butt will be the Ten Rings.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
3The Hawkeyes (Kate Bishop & Clint Barton)
Played by Hailee Steinfeld & Jeremy Renner
The Hawkeyes (Hailee Steinfeld&Jeremy Renner) are another pair that kind of have to come as a combo in the nextThe Avengersfilms. While Clint Barton may be in a bit of a retirement right now, he has a history of that not making much of a difference, as he always has the heart to do the right thing and can’t help himself, as seen inCaptain America: Civil War.
Kate Bishop, on the other hand, actively wants to be a hero and will certainly jump into the fight. While they may seem like two ofthe weaker MCU heroesout there, they don’t need to go hand-to-hand with Doom to be useful. The Hawkeyes have some great trick arrows and will most likely provide range support or covert operationswhile the heavy-hitters face the villain directly.
Series based on the Marvel Comics superhero Hawkeye, centering on the adventures of Young Avenger, Kate Bishop, who took on the role after the original Avenger, Clint Barton.
2Daredevil (Matt Murdock)
Played by Charlie Cox
It’s clear throughboth of his shows,DaredevilandDaredevil: Born Again, that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is far more of a street-level hero than the rest of the Avengers. However, this shouldn’t count him out from being a potential Avenger. Actually, it makes him more worthy of being a top hero than some may think.Daredevil being so close to the ground and the people of New York means he can help ground the team.
The Avengers have always been focused on the bigger threats. They do what they can to help the people on the ground, but typically have to focus their efforts on whatever the big threat facing the world is. The Man Without Fear can help keep these civilians in mind. His sensory powers will also help the Avengers have an always-active sonar of sorts, meaning, hopefully, Doom can’t get too much of a jump on them.
Daredevil: Born Again
After Charlie Cox’s cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and supporting role in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Daredevil: Born Again gives Matt Murdock his first show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daredevil: Born Again continues the story that started in Netflix’s three-season Daredevil series and sees Wilson Fisk ascend to mayor of New York City.
1Spider-Man (Peter Parker)
Played by Tom Holland
Face it. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) isthe biggest superhero in the MCUand pretty much always will be. He’s the most profitable superhero on the planet and one of the most profitable fictional characters overall, too. The rumors surrounding the movie have all stated that he will pretty much be the main player ofAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. Whether that’s true or not, it’s all but guaranteed that he will be a main character.
Spider-Man, over anyone else, carries the heart of not just the Avengers, but the MCU as a whole. He’s sincere, genuine, and heroicin ways other heroes just don’t match. He is also super-powerful—more than people think. If anyone gets recruited for the Avengers, it’s going to be Spider-Man, without a doubt.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
With Spider-Man’s identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
