You know what never goes out of style? A bald guy with a British accent punching people in the face. Case in point:Homefront, the 2013 action-thriller starringJason Statham, which just muscled its way back into the global conversation. According to Flix Patrol,Homefrontis now the eighth most-streamed movie on Prime Video as of June 27 — beating out not onlyThe Beekeeper(another Statham special) but evenJames Cameron’sTitanic. Let that sink in.Titanicsank twice.

The film’s comeback is no fluke. Originally released in 2013 and directed byGary Flederfrom a script by none other thanSylvester Stallone,Homefrontfollows ex-DEA agent Phil Broker (Statham), a man just trying to live a quiet life in small-town Louisiana with his daughter. Unfortunately, he picks the wrong town, and soon finds himself tangling with local meth kingpin Gator Bodine (played with backwoods flair byJames Franco). Toss inWinona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, Clancy Brown, andFrank Grillo, and you’ve got a pulpy powder keg of a movie that’s been lying in wait for its redemption arc.

So why the sudden resurgence? Chalk it up to the Statham Effect. With recent successes likeA Working Manpulling in nearly $100 million globally, fans are clearly craving more of the actor’s particular brand of brutal justice. AndHomefrontdelivers in spades — think bar brawls, high-speed pursuits, Southern-fried corruption, and one very angry dad with a skull-cracking skill set.

Is ‘Homefront’ Worth Watching?

Critics weren’t thrilled when it debuted —Homefrontcurrently holds a modest 42% on Rotten Tomatoesbased on 114 reviews. But audiences were notably kinder, awarding it a 61% on the Popcornmeter. Box office-wise, the film did solid business: $51.6 million worldwide on a $22 million budget, plus another $14.8 million in home entertainment sales. For Open Road Films, it remains their 12th highest-grossing title. Not bad for a movie whose main selling point was “Jason Statham fights hillbillies.” And who wouldn’t want to see it?

As for the stars, Statham is gearing up forMutinyin 2026, while Grillo’s future may involve either a return to thePurgefranchise or howling throughWerewolves 2and3. “I don’t know if I’ll be in [The Purge 6],” Grillo admitted recently. “I might not be available.”
