The Fantastic Four: First Stepshas been released and added a new entry to theMarvel Cinematic Universebefore the massive event films,Avengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars. While there is so much to love about this film from beginning to end,the real highlight is none other than the leading woman herself, Sue Storm(Vanessa Kirby). Pretty much everyone can agree that this movie is definitely Sue’s, and people have been more than enjoying her.

Moving forward in the MCU,everyone is thinking about all the characters they’re excited to see The Fantastic Four interact with, be enemies with, and be friends with. While the entire team itself has plenty of friendships in the Marvel Comics universe that could be brought over to the cinematic one,Sue Storm has some great ones herself that would be perfect to adapt to theMarvel movies. There are a ton of great friendships that should be friends with Sue in the future.

6Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff)

Played by Elizabeth Olsen

Despite the many issues with her writing over the course of the MCU, Sue Storm and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) have a lot they could bond over and relate to one another with. Both being mothers who went to extreme lengths for their children– some more nefarious than others (ex:Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) – they would most definitely connect over the love they have for their kids.

Being a mother is hard, and no one in the MCU knows that better than these two powerful ladies. She may be dead in the main universe, but withAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Warson the horizon, there’s more than enough opportunity to bring her into the fold again via the multiverse and have these two interact with each other. Bonding over motherly love and dedication is a surefire way towards friendship.

Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness

In Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU takes a deeper dive into the Multiverse and the unknown, introducing variants of Strange and other familiar friends and foes - including The Illuminati - and offers a new perspective on how it works and connects. The story follows Stephen Strange, now post-blip and no longer the Sorcerer Supreme. When a terrifying monster rampages through New York seeking to capture a young girl from another multiverse named America Chavez, Strange finds himself as her newfound protector. Unfortunately, his new foe is a former ally, Wanda Maximoff. To protect Chavez and stop Wanda’s rampage, Strange travels the Multiverse looking for answers - and encounters engrossing and terrifying realities that expand the Marvel Universe in a whole new way.

5Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)

Played by Brie Larson

After the final act ofThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, Sue defined herself as not only one of the strongest women in the MCU butone of the strongest characters overall, as well. By pushing her powers to the limit, she was able to push the ever-powerful and heavy Galactus (Ralph Inseon) down the streets of New York Cityfor numerous blocks. Power respects power, and if there’s a character that is about as strong as that (and definitely stronger), it’s Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

Because of this, it would be really cool to see these two develop a friendship or simply camaraderie of sorts. They’re not necessarily friends in the comics, having not interacted much at all, but theMCU is the perfect opportunity to bring one to light. They’d be an excellent pair and, together, could be friends that not only work because of how strong they are, but because of the fact that if The Fantastic Four were going to stay in the main MCU universe after theAvengersfilm to come, they could bond over being two people from different places unlike the ones they came from.

4Wasp (Hope van Dyne)

Played by Evangeline Lilly

A friendship actually from the comics that would be a great one to see in the MCU is Sue’s great friendship with Wasp — despite it being with the Janet van Dyne version. The friendship she has with Janet would be a great one to transfer over to Hope (Evangeline Lilly) in the MCU, and quite easy to do so, as well. After the events ofAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it feels like Hope might nothave much left to do inthe future of the MCU, so this could give her more purpose moving forward.

A great example of this friendship outside the comics can be seen inone of the best depictions of the Marvel universe (outside of said books),Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. In that show, they have a relationship strong enough to be considered as borderline sisterly. This would also give her a connection to someone in the Avengers corner of the MCU.

Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania

Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne are dragged into the Quantum Realm, along with Hope’s parents and Scott’s daughter Cassie. Together they must find a way to escape, but what secrets is Hope’s mother hiding? And who is the mysterious Kang?

3Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

Played by Tom Holland

If there’s anyone close to Marvel’s First Family in the comic books, it’s Spider-Man. He’s considered part of the family, and while he’s closest with Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn),Peter (Tom Holland) still has a closeness with Sue that could be developed and expanded upon in the MCU. They’re friends in the comics viaPeter’s close relationship with the overall family, but they don’t get to team up solo much, if at all. This could most definitely change in the MCU, but probably not in the form of a team-up.

After the events ofSpider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker has lost his beloved motherly figure, Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). This has left him all alone in the world without a womanly figure in his life to guide him. Aunt May, in almost every adaptation, has been someone to guide Peter in the right direction, andif anyone could fill that role for him in the future, Sue would be an incredible pick. If Marvel Studios comes through for the fans and makes Tom Holland’s Peter close to The Fantastic Four in the future, it would be amazing to see Sue help Peter through his life journey and even give him some girl advice when he needs it.

With Spider-Man’s identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

2She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters)

Played by Tatiana Maslany

While a lot of people may have hated onShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and many do not expect Marvel Studios to bring her back in the future, Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) could definitely have a future as a close friend to both The Fantastic Four and Sue Storm in particular. In the comics,She-Hulk is extremely close to the familyand consistently jumps in as a replacement or additional member.

Through this relationship in the books, she has grown just as close to or even closer to Sue–in the same vein that Peter is extremely close to the family, but closest to Johnny Storm. She-Hulk has a very uncertain future in the MCU’s future, so having her be close to Sue and appearing in future Fantastic Four projects would be a perfect opportunity for her.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

1Storm (Ororo Munroe)

Played by Alison Sealy-Smith

While the X-Men haven’t officially made their way to the MCU yet — most likely not until post-Avengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars— a good potential pair from that corner of the universe for Sue is, by far, Storm. In the comics, when they were married,T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and Storm were beyond close to Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm. They consistently came to help and even replaced the two on the team when they stepped away to work on their marriage.

Storm has technically appeared inthe MCU via a variantWhat If…?, so even though she may not be played byAlison Sealy-Smithwhen she debuts in live-action,she definitely will need to be besties with Sue when that time does come. She’s one of, if not the most important, friendships for Sue in the comic books, and it feels almost essential for them to adapt this one.

What If…?

Based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name, this animated anthology looks at alternate timelines in the multiverse that would happen if specific moments in the MCU occurred differently.
