Wednesdayreturned for its second season with many of the same characters, several of whom have bigger roles this time around, including Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), and Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez). There are many new characters as well, including a few that won’t be introduced until Part 2 of the season, likeFrances O’Connorin a teased but yet-to-be-named role as a former captured patient at Willow Hill andLady Gagaas legendary Nevermore teacher Rosaline Rotwood.
But when it comes to the dozen new characters in Part 1 of Season 2, they all add something important to the story. From allies to foes, family members to school staff, and even a zombie, the mix is exciting and entertaining.

11Isadora Capri (Billie Piper)
Isadora Capri isn’t one of the most compelling new characters in Season 2 of thehorror-comedy, but she has an important role. It’s her guidance as Nevermore’s new music teacher that helps Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) unlock clues her stalker has provided. As a former child prodigy, she feels the music in her bones, while as a werewolf, she understands the kids better than any “normie” teacher might.
While there’s initial suspicion about Isadora and what role she might play in the murders and those harrowing messages Wednesday is receiving, she seems to be a genuine person who truly has a passion for music.

10Bruno Yuson (Noah B. Taylor)
Bruno plays the handsome jock student who captures Enid’s (Emma Myers) heart and leaves Ajax (Georgie Farmer) gutted that he has been tossed aside beautifully. While characters like Bruno tend to be stereotypically pompous and arrogant, he appears to be anything but. When he recognizes there’s unresolved business between Enid and Ajax, he quietly walks away instead of trying to rub it in Ajax’s face that he “got the girl.”
The jury is still out on Bruno until the story concludes in Part 2, but fans are enjoying the love story as Enid finds someone who she feels is a better fit now that she has come into her own — and someone to whom she can relate since he’s a werewolf, too.

9Judi Spannegel (Heather Matarazzo)
Part of one of the biggest twists in Part 1, Judi is the wide-eyed, big-smiled executive assistant at Willow Hill who seems passionate about her job and obsessed with her boss, Dr. Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton).Heather Matarazzoplays her well, giving no indication that there’s a dark secret lurking behind the character’s joyful and welcoming tone.
Fans love the twist and are curious to see where the story could go for the character, should that storyline continue. In fact, whether or not viewers see her again is one of theburning questions fans want answered in Part 2. There’s clearly a lot more than meets the eye behind Judi, and she’s a fun and unexpected addition to the cast.

8Chet LaTroy, a.k.a. Kansas City Scalper (Haley Joel Osment)
Though he only appears in the cold open,Haley Joel Osmentis convincing as the creepy Chet LaTroy, who is secretly the Kansas City Scalper. Wednesday has been hunting him since she was a child. Now, using her psychic abilities, she’s able to figure out his identity and take him down.
Osment delivers a chilling and hilarious performance as he captures Wednesday, not realizing that he won’t be met with the same level of fear from her as he has from his other victims. The story about Chet being a beauty school dropout who becomes obsessed with dolls and kills victims to use their human hair fits perfectly within the Wednesday universe. Plus, Chet is part of one of the funniest scenes of the season.

7Granny Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley)
Morticia has always been in a position of power in the show, the top dog in both the school and her family. Granny Hester Frump is the one character who finally has her shaking in her boots. Seeing how their relationship mirrors the strained one between Morticia and Wednesday adds a compelling story about family dynamics to the show. It’s a relatable one for normies, too — not just outcasts.
She’s both lovely and manipulative, dark and twisted, yet caring. Plus, she’s the only person to bring a genuine smile to Wednesday’s face through the entire series to date.
6Professor Orloff (Christopher Lloyd)
Fans might not even recognizeChristopher Lloydthis season since his character is literally just a floating head inside a jar perched atop a moving platform. A professor at the school, he is both serious about his job and very knowledgeable. His form doesn’t stop the kids from messing with him during class, and his frustrations are relatable to any teacher.
Lloyd, as fans might recall, played Uncle Fester in the 1991 movieThe Addams Family, so it’s a lovely and meta full-circle moment to have him appear in thewhodunit seriesin a fun role that’s just as quirky but entirely new.
5Dr. Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton)
The one character fans have questions about right from her introduction is Dr. Rachael Fairburn. The fact that she is a talented psychiatrist who knows how to unlock the minds of outcasts makes her the perfect candidate for someone who could control a Hyde like Tyler (Hunter Doohan), yet she seems genuine in wanting to try and rehabilitate him and other troubled outcasts — not capitalize on their power.
Thandiwe Newton makes her both likable and suspect, an interesting conflict as viewers watch her interact with Wednesday and wonder if she’s the real deal or someone sinister. Her role in the final scene proves that Dr. Fairburn is one of the few normies who truly care about outcasts, even if she isn’t one herself.
4Ron Kruger (Anthony Michael Hall)
Anthony Michael Hallwas confirmed in a mystery role early on, and it was finally confirmed to be Ron Kruger. The scene-stealing character is a scoutmaster of a group of Phoenix Cadets who butt heads with the kids during a camping trip. These normies are double-booked on the same campsite, so the only logical way to figure out who gets to stay is some friendly competition.
Loud, stern, and adamant that his scouts learn how to become men, he scolds the group and pushes them to fight back against these weakling outcasts. While his character meets his tragic end after just one episode, he’s a standout in the series. Ron is a hilarious callback to funny films from Hall’s acting heyday likePolice Academyand a parodied homage to characters likeR. Lee Emery’s Gunnery Sergeant L. Hartman fromFull Metal Jacket.
3Agnes DeMille (Evie Templeton)
In a twist no one saw coming, Wednesday has two tormenters, not just one. And the first turned out to be an obsessed fan who wants to be just like her. It’s not surprising since Wednesday Addams is one ofthe most iconic TV it girls. Agnes’ pig-tailed hair, doe eyes, and sinister smile play perfectly as a teenage wannabe who’s trying too hard.
Poised to have a larger role as the season goes on, Agnes manages to make herself useful enough that Wednesday won’t fully shoo her away, yet annoying enough to irritate Wednesday and even upset Enid. Seeing Wednesday use Evie has her own little assistant and the jealousy this causes in Enid is an interesting and oddly relatable coming-of-age dynamic.
2Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi)
Steve Busceminails any role he’s given, and this one is no exception. He’s the quirky new principal at Nevermore who clearly knows what his goals are and is willing to lie, manipulate, and blackmail to get them. He comes across as a greedy corporate type who is only concerned about the bottom line and his own reputation, not necessarily the new generation of outcasts like he makes it look.
His stand-offs with both Wednesday and Bianca (Joy Sunday) are the highlights. He’s an intriguing character that fans just know is hiding a lot more than he’s letting on.
