BeforeAmerican Horror StorySeason 6’s theme was revealed as Roanoke (and even still we’re not entirely sure what to make of it), one of the suggestions of how the show might continue with its mystery season was to return to Murder House. As Nick Romano wrote about earlier this season, there are so many references within Season 6 that it seems like ananthology within an anthology. SinceAHShas been renewed for Season 7 and mayrun until the end of time,Ryan Murphyhas already been working on where the show goes next – which seems to be doubling-down on being self-referential.

AtEntertainment Weekly’s PopFest, Murphy said that he is considering an in-show crossover between Season 3’s well-received Coven and Season 1’s Murder House.

“We do know what we’re going to do,” Murphy revealed to the crowd in Los Angeles. “It’s not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre” Murphy clarified his vision, saying, “There will be characters fromMurder Houseand characters fromCoventogether.”

Season 7 may be a little soon for this to happen if Murphy is looking to bring backConnie Britton(who is currently committed to another season ofNashville, which recently moved to CMT) as well as potentiallyDylan McDermott. But details are currently under wraps (of course). Murphy went on to say that,

“I’ve [already] started going to actors from both of the seasons, quietly, saying, ‘I think in this window, if you could fit us in,’” said Murphy. “So yeah, it’s fun. It’s weird.”

So what do you think of this in-series crossover idea? Are you looking forward to revisiting Coven in a new way, and seeing how those characters interact with Murder House? Or would you rather – if it’s going to revisit Coven – have it be a prequel or sequel to the story we’ve already seen? Let us know in the comments!
