When The CW scooped upSupergirlfrom its original home on CBS, it was all but guaranteed that the latest addition to the network’s ever-expanding superhero line-up would crossover with her crime-fighting counterparts. The CW has done a great job of setting the landscape for crossovers betweenArrow,The FlashandLegends of Tomorrowby setting up characters on a parent show before spinning them off into their own vehicle. And the opportunity for interconnected adventures has only grown more freewheeling and fun since the introduction of time travel onLegendsand alternate dimensions onThe Flash.
This morning, CW PresidentMark Pedowtizconfirmed those suspicions when he told the folks at upfronts, ““Next season,Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and nowSupergirlwill join forces in our annual crossover event, our biggest ever.” Now, the network has teased the upcoming superhero bonanza with a new trailer showing off the world of superheroes they’ve built. Check it out below:

After last year’s first big crossover during the inaugural season ofThe Flash, this season boasted two major events. The first, a two-episode crossover betweenThe FlashandArrowthat introduced Vandal Savage and set the stakes forLegends of Tomorrow, and the second, Barry Allen’s skip over to Metropolis for theSupergirlcrossover episode, which officially introducedMelissa Benoist’s Kryptonian crimefighter to The CW’s DC Universe. Basically, they tend to treat these crossovers as major storytelling events, usually to help expand their existing universe. Which kind of makes ya wonder what exactly will come in the wake of the massive four-series event.
What’s also interesting is that they’ve opted to include, not one, but two very clear shots ofMegan E.K.’s Vixen, who headlined an animated series on CW Seed before making her live-action debut on this season ofArrow. Given that that’s more screen time than they gave to half the members ofLegends of Tomorrow, I wouldn’t be surprised if the network has big plans for the character ahead. With that in mind, it’s worth noting that with the addition ofSupergirl, The CW now has four out of five weekdays bedecked with a DC property, could Vixen be the fifth? Only time will tell, but if the current trajectory of the network is any indication, you’re able to place safe money on the introduction of a new series before too long.
