Here’s your weekly reminder that 20th Century Fox’s video game adaptationAssassin’s Creedis due to hit theaters in just a few weeks. On the surface, the marketing team seems to have done what they can to drum up interest by releasing trailers, images, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and clips that show off some iconic traits from the video game franchise while also attempting to explain the mythology to newcomers. Two newly released TV spots just seem to hope that audiences will be enticed by the film’s beautiful visuals and easy-flowing fight choreography.
And yet it feels like there’s zero buzz for this film. Is it a case of waiting too long for a big-screen adaptation? The franchise was stillactively churning out gamesas recently as early this year, but its popularity is certainly not at a high point. Perhaps the live-action film will surprise us all and generate a resurgence of interest in the world of blade-wielding, high-diving assassins. Are you looking forward to the film?
