Save Your Soul., a film filled with crazy twists and turns as Trinitie and Lee-Curtis’s plans unravel before their eyes. The film also starsNicole Beharie(Miss Juneteenth),Conphidance(Bob Hearts Abishola), andAustin Crute(Booksmart). The movie was based on a short film of the same byAdamma Ebo(Mr. and Mrs. Smith), which came out in 2018.

Written and directed by Ebo, the film premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. The film won Ebo a Rising Star Award at the Black Film Critics Circle Awards, asHonk For Jesus. Save Your Soul.was her directorial debut and was produced in part byJordan Peele(Get Out) under his company, Monkeypaw Productions. Five Nights At Freddy’sproved that releasing a film on streaming at the same time as theaters doesn’t always mean disaster, as the project grossed $291 million worldwide while it was also available for free on Peacock. As always, Monk is pining after his late wife, Trudy (Melora Hardin), and this latest case will hopefully bring him back to his old self.

As they dream of a future together, the couple’s hopes are dashed when Alonzo is arrested for a crime he did not commit. A moving look at the tragedy found in the everyday, both Layne and James are outstanding in every single moment. When your film also has a supporting cast ofRegina King,who won an Oscar for her role as Tish’s mother, andColeman Domingoas Tish’s father, it becomes a masterclass in acting from start to finish. –Chase Hutchinson
