If anyone knows how to bring the speed to life in a film, it is Kosinski, who worked closely withTom Cruiseto bring the beloved sequel toTop Gunto life. But while Kosinski and Cruise worked together onMaverick, Pitt and Cruisehave worked together in the pastas well. The two stared opposite each other in the beloved 1994 filmInterview With the Vampire, but if you were hopeful that Cruise and Pitt would work together again soon, think again.
Pitt was atthe premiere forF1when E! Newsasked him about Cruise. First, they talked about how Cruise loved the film and praised it.While on stage at CinemaCon, Cruise saidthat hecouldn’t wait to seeF1this summer. And Kosinski has, in the press, joked about how Cruise couldn’t play Pitt’s role inF1becauseit’d be a lot more dangerous for them all. This is part of the reason why Pitt will not be working with Cruise anytime soon. In his own words, he’ll work with Cruise when he ends up back on the ground.
“It’s so sweet,” Pitt said when E! brought up Cruise’s praise of the film. “He’s sweet. We did have our Go-Kart days back in the 90s, early 90s.” E! was shocked to learn about their Go-Kart days. But when asked if he’d star in a movie with Cruise again, Pitt was blunt about the situation. “Well,I’m not going to hang my a** off airplanes and s***like that, so when he does something again, that’s on the ground.” When asked who won their Go-Kart adventures? Pitt said “He got me in the end. I gotta tell you. I gotta admit.”
Before Cruise was known for his death-defying stunts, he had a more dramatic career, andInterview With the Vampireis definitely one of those films. The adaptation of theAnne Ricenovel has since become a popular television series starringJacob AndersonandSam Reid,but before their toxic romance,we had Pitt and Cruise playing the complex characters of Louis and Lestat. It’d be nice to see the two share the screen again, but at least we will always haveInterview With the Vampirein the meantime.
