After shifting studios and delays, it was recently announced that Blumhouse Productions (Insidious,Sinister)will be producing the next installment of theHalloweenfranchiseand the one and onlyJohn Carpenterwill return to executive produce. There is no announcement yet on who will direct but rumors are swirling that Blumhouse favoriteMike FlanaganofOculusandHushfame is in the running as isAdam Wingard(You’re Next,The Guest). The latest installment ofHalloweenis expected to hit theaters in October 2017.
A feature film adaptation ofStephen King’sIthas been in the works for a while withTrue DetectivedirectorCary Fukunagaat the helm. When Fukunaga left the project in 2015 over “creative differences” the studio quickly tappedMamadirectorAndres Muschiettito take over. Before Fukunaga left he had cast young British actorWill Poulter(We’re The Millers,The Revenant) as the infamous clown Pennywise. It had been uncertain if Poulter would remain on the project post-Fukunaga butrecently we learned thatHemlock Grove’sBill Skarsgardwould be be donning the clown shoes.

In anticipation forThe Conjuring 2hitting theaters this week, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have released a promotional video featuring directorJames Wanexplaining that he wants to “redefine horror.” In essence, bringing respect and class back to the genre.
The long in development new installment ofFriday the 13thhas faced delay after delay over at Paramount Pictures. Now thatPrisonersand upcomingWolfmanscreenwriterAaron Guzikowskihas turned in his draft of the script, according to an interview with Platinum Dunes producerBrad Fuller, they will be moving forward with an origin story of sorts. Fuller told TheReelWorld.net that the newFriday the 13thwould NOT be found footage and would be, “Origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before.”

Jessica Langerecently told Charlie Rose that she’s ‘100% done’ withAmerican Horror Story.Lange won two Emmy’s on theRyan MurphyFX drama and last season, the first since her departure, sawLady Gagalead the cast with Gaga winning a Golden Globe for her performance as The Countess. Murphy and company have yet to announce the theme for season six but he has indicated that it will include children and opera and Gaga will return. It’s expected to premiere in October.

MONSTER OF THE WEEK
Poltergeist-Strange and creepy happenings beset an average California family, the Freelings – Steve (Craig T. Nelson), Diane (JoBeth Williams), teenaged Dana (Dominique Dunne), eight-year-old Robbie (Oliver Robins), and five-year-old Carol Ann (Heather O’Rourke) – when ghosts commune with them through the television set. Initially friendly and playful, the spirits turn unexpectedly menacing, and, when Carol Ann goes missing, Steve and Diane turn to a parapsychologist and eventually an exorcist for help.

And for the last, special segment, ‘Jump Scares’ is all about the topics that exist worthy of a debate, with this first topic tailor made for Nightmares. The panel look at the question: “What is Horror?” and discuss what horror means to them and in pop culture.
