Now, Dexter must help this amateur killer escape without Harrison knowing he’s there. That’s already a twist from the norm, butthe fourth episode, “Call Me Red”, turned it up a notch. Not only did Dexter finally reveal himself to Harrison, but he went to a bizarre dinner party for serial killers held by Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage). That’s risky enough, but then Dexter killed one of the guests, Lowell (Neil Patrick Harris), before they could murder an innocent person. What kind of trouble will he and Harrison find themselves in nextwith Episode 5, “Murder Horny”?

Dexter Stops Harrison From Confessing To Murder

The episode begins with Harrison about to walk into the police station to confess to murdering Ryan Foster (Bryan Lillis) when Dexter stops him. Understandably, his son is shocked, thinking that shooting his dad in the chest had killed him and all. Dexter has Harrison get into his car and takes him back to his apartment. When accused of stalking, Dexter says, “I care about you.“That’s big for the guy who used to have no emotions. After explaining how he survived a bullet to the chest and why he’s not in jail,Harrison compares his father to Michael Myers and Jason Voorheesdue to his ability to get back up. “There certainly are some similarities,” he thinks.

Harrison confesses how much that day messed him up, but Dexter takes responsibility for making him shoot him. He also tells him that he knows all about Ryan Foster.Dexter sees killing as a release, but for poor Harrison, it’s a nightmare of guilthe can’t escape. He’s in so much pain that he carries Ryan’s watch with him, but he’s driven nearly crazy by its incessant ticking in his head. Dex realizes they’re not so similar after all, and tries to calm him by saying that you’re more than your worst moment, but Harrison asks if that helps when he thinks about his mother, Deb, or Captain LaGuerta?

Krysten Ritter as Mia in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’

Harrison reveals that Batista tracked him down, but that he told the detective nothing. Dexter takes Ryan’s watch from him, wanting to carry it for him. He wants to carry the weight of what he caused with that statement. Harrison isn’t interested in staying around, though, so he bails, and Harry (James Remar) tells Dexter to let him go for now. Moments later, Harrison gets a call from Detective Wallace (Kadai Saraf), returning his call. She wants to see him in person, but he has suddenly changed his mind about wanting to talk. Harrison reluctantly meets with Wallace, and she shows him a newspaper article about how he stopped a school shooting while living in Iron Lake. Maybe Harrison has a hero complex. She also says he’s still a suspect, but he’s not under arrest… yet. This might be the news that pushes him back to his dad.

Harrison’s Rejection Sends Dexter Into Mia’s Arms

Dexter is crushed by Harrison’s rejection. His son doesn’t want him, he has no true friends, and the happy couple making out in the back of his rideshare isn’t helping either. That makes him think about Mia (Krysten Ritter), with whom he has a lot in common. The last time he saw her was when he was running out of her apartment instead of having sex with her, buthis loneliness leads him to call her and ask her on a date.Who is this Dexter?!She agrees, and they have fun bowling together, flirting and opening up about the loneliness of being a serial killer.

Prater, who has revealed that he grew up as an orphan in foster care, sits down for an interview withLesley Stahl, where he’s asked about his support for a controversial police organization. He explains that he was saved by police officers when he was in a car accident that killed his parents. Now he’s holding a gala on the anniversary of their death. How much of this is genuine, though, and how much is an act to cover for his dark side hobby? Lesley Stahl wants to know who he is, but he only gives her a look of pain.

‘Dexter: Resurrection’s Biggest Serial Killer Twist Yet Just Redefined the Franchise

Is this Heaven for Dexter Morgan?

Having a great time together, Mia and Dexter decide to keep the date going later that night. Then she brings up a bombshell. Would he ever consider collaborating on a kill together? Harry warns Dexter about teaming up with a serial killer, reminding his son about what happened to Miguel Prado and Lumen, but Dex disagrees because they weren’t real killers like Mia. Harry warns her that she’s very sick, especially if she wants to work with the man she thinks is Red, a killer of innocent people. Dexter is excited to perhaps tell her who he really is, consequences be damned.Harry warns him that he’s only seeking out a relationship with Mia because of Harrison’s rejection.

Mia Makes an Unexpected Confession to Dexter

At work, Harrison gets a call from Dexter, but he still doesn’t want to talk. Rejected again, Dexter goes on a wine date with Mia. He starts to say too much about how he grew up in Miami. As for killing together, Mia wants to do it Red’s way. She wants to kill a rideshare driver. “Any driver will do.” This shocks him because Mia previously said she only kills sexual predators, but nowshe’s admitting that she has also killed innocent people. Dexter looks crushed. She is not like him. Mia’s not a crusader. She simply likes murder, and she wants to be spontaneous and kill tonight!

Dexter and Mia then start walking the busy New York City streets, with Lady Vengeance eager to see Red in action. She even finds a rideshare, but Dexter declines it. She’s upset that, yet again, he is a tease who won’t let her in. She’s all “murder horny” now, so she leaves to go kill someone by herself.Dexter knows he has to kill her now, which will make him look more suspicious, as two killers will now be missing from Prater’s next dinner party. Mia heads to a bar and quickly finds an easy target in a drunk man in a suit. She sits with the guy and immediately comes on to him as Dexter breaks into her apartment and gets ready.

Later, Mia brings her next victim home as Dexter watches them kiss outside from afar. When she knocks the guy out with a wine bottle, Dexter calls 911 and pretends to be a scared citizen. As the man comes to, he finds himself tied up in front of a table of weapons, but before she can kill him, the police are breaking down her door and arresting her.Dexter didn’t kill Mia himself, but she is dealt with.Better yet, he planted Ryan’s watch in her home, so now she will take the fall for his death instead of Harrison. Wallace sees the watch at the crime scene and is surprised that the killer isn’t who she thought it was, but with how smart she is, don’t be surprised if Harrison isn’t in the clear just yet.

Batista watches a news clip about Ryan Foster’s murder being pinned on Lady Vengeance. He’s confused, but he knows Dexter was behind this somehow. Meanwhile, Harrison is just as confused to hear the news. That’s enough to send him back to dear ol’ dad. Dexter wants Harrison in his life and lets him know. He opens up about his fears of fatherhood and confesses that it was his mistakes that got Rita killed and broke him. Finally, the truth:He also no longer wants Harrison to be a killer like him. His son has a goodness that he doesn’t.Dexter actually apologizes to Harrison and tells him that he needs him. “You’re my reason to live.” They admit that they’re all each other has.

That’s not good enough for him, who needs his problem to go away.Charley is able to finally meet with Mia by posing as a lawyer, where she tells Lady Vengeance that her time in jail will be as short as possible. Is she going to kill Mia or help get her out?
