No One’s Safe in ‘Arkham City’
A sequel to the hit 2009 gameBatman: Arkham Asylum, 2011’sBatman: Arkham Citytook the “free flow” combat, exploration, and stealth from the original and expanded it on a massive scale. This was the first open-world game for the popularDCcharacter while giving fansone of the best written Batman stories of all-time thanks to Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series). The story takes place a little over a year after the events ofArkham Asylum. The former warden, who is now the mayor, has closed down the asylum andsectioned off a run-down part of the city as their new maximum super prison. That means the worst-of-the-worst, likeHarley Quinn, Poison Ivy, The Penguin, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze and The Mad Hatter, are causing chaos in the streets. This is all under the new warden, Hugo Strange. Batman suspects that there’s a larger diabolical game at play here, and he has one night to investigate the city until Strange enacts “Protocol 10.” What follows is the longest night of Batman’s life,made even longer given the fact thatThe Jokeris dying.
