CBS All Access revealed a new, longerStar Trek: Picardtrailer today while also confirming when, exactly, you’ll get to see the new series. Indeed, theStar Trek: Picardpremiere date has been set for Thursday, August 16, 2025, where it will kick off with the premiere episode and then the rest of the 10-episode first season will be released on a weekly basis on Thursdays. The show findsSir Patrick Stewartreprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard fromStar Trek: The Next Generation, and picks up years after the conclusion of that series.

In the new trailer, which debuted atNew York Comic-Con, we see Captain Picard trying to live a peaceful life at his vineyard when a young girl shows up asking for help. His quiet solitude is interrupted, and he sets about assembling a new crew while a bevy of familiar faces (Jonathan Frakes!Jeri Ryan!) reappear.

Fans ofThe Next Generationare no doubt enthused about the return of Picard, and it’s interesting to see theStar Trekfranchise building out so successfully on CBS All Access.Star Trek Discoveryisentering its third season, and other shows in development includeaMichelle Yeoh-centric spinoff, a younger-skewing series calledStarfleet Academy, and even an animated series calledLower Decks. All of these series are being overseen by executive producerAlex Kurtzman, who at one point was steering the Dark Universe franchise at Universal until his directorial debut,The Mummy, crashed and burned.

STAR TREK: PICARD features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” The new series will follow this iconic character into the next chapter of his life. Alongside Stewart, STAR TREK: PICARD will also star Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway and Evan Evagora. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, James Duff, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers and Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) serves as co-executive producer and Kirsten Beyer as supervising producer. Hanelle Culpepper directed the first two episodes of the series.
