Based on the on the novel byMaria Semple, the filmWhere’d You Go BernadettefindsCate Blanchettready to flee to Antarctica to start her life’s second act in directorRichard Linklater’s latest. The film, stocked with an outstanding cast, feels like it has a little bit ofEat, Pray, Loveto it as Blanchett’s role as a wife and mother seems to have left her drained and exhausted creatively, and the only answer is to depart across the world to fix it. There’s definitely a hefty dose of wish-fulfillment here as well as a host of ultra-privileged options for her Seattle-based character. But the book is a runaway hit and I’ll also pretty much watch anything Blanchett and Linklater do so, here we are!
