Welcome to a new era of movie reviews, reviews for “Movies in Chapters!” The new mobile-first streaming service Quibi is here and it’s brought us a handful of these original Movies in Chapters includingMost Dangerous GamestarringLiam Hemsworth. Together, all of the sub-10-minute chapters ofMost Dangerous Gamewill equal one feature length film, but this review is being written having screened the first four, essentially the first act of the movie. Most Dangerous Gametakes place in Detroit and opens with Hemsworth’s character, Dodge, visiting a man named Miles Sellers (Christoph Waltz), the president of a company called the Tiro Fund....

It looks like trailers and on a roll at the moment because much like last week, this week also brought us plenty of content to look at. Mere hours before Pixar’sCocois set to make its Thanksgiving week debut in the U.S., the acclaimed animation studio will be weathering some disturbing news. The film starsDwayne Johnsonas the FBI’s top profiler who is forced to partner with the world’s greatest art thief (Ryan Reynolds) to catch the most wanted art thief, “The Bishop” (Gal Gadot). The adventure takes the trio around the world as they constantly fend off pursuit to make their escape. This looks like a delightful confection of the highest order....

Sharpen your swords and whip out your comic book collection, because Millenium Media has just released its first look image at the newest adaptation ofRed Sonja. The new image, released today, gives us our first look atMatilda Lutzas the titular warrior. Principal photography for the film is currently underway in Bulgaria, and additional shoots will take place in Greece. No release date has yet been set for the exciting new comic book film....

With production now underway, Gulfstream Pictures’ upcoming romantic comedy filmUpgradedhas added two leads to its cast withCamila Mendes, best known for her role inRiverdale, joining the project alongsideArchie Renaux, who stars inShadow and Bone. While starring in the feature, Mendes will also serve as an executive producer for the film which will be helmed byCarlsonYoung, who previously directed the fantasy horror filmThe Blazing World. Sidney Poitierhas died at the age of 94, according to reports. Few names resonate so loudly in the pantheon of Hollywood as Poitier’s: the titanic screen presence who, amid the tumultuous era of the Civil Rights movement, became the first Black actor to win the Oscar for Best Actor in 1963. He will, without doubt, be remembered as one of the most important artists of his generation. He went on to redefine what could be the Hollywood leading man, starring in a succession of hits....

Though details ofMartin Scorsese’sSilenceare scant, what is clear is that the director seems to be very interested in the reaction of the Catholic community to his film. A few weeks ago wereportedthat there will be a private screening ofSilencein Rome for 400 Jesuit priests, the religious order that the movie focuses on. But when he gets in too deep, his sister is kidnapped and he is forced to use magic and his talent for deceit to save both her and himself....

Solo: A Star Wars Storyis kind of a fascinating failure. It’s not an awful movie, but it’s not particularly a good one, and I feel like we’ve all kind of forgotten about it already, which is surprising when you consider the amount of discussion generated byThe Force AwakensandThe Last Jedi. It’s not like people are indifferent towardsStar Wars, but they didn’t seem to have much to say aboutSolo. That being said, it had a fascinating development process, and hopefully one day somebody will write a book that explains exactly the transformations the project underwent as it passed from original directorsPhil Lord&Christopher Millerto replacement directorRon Howard....

The numbers are in for the weekend box office and, as if it wasn’t clear yesterday,Suicide Squadhas destroyed all comers with a $135 million take. Along with that impressive monetary take,Suicide Squadhas unseatedGuardians of the Galaxyas the most lucrative August opening weekend of all time. It’s also the best opening weekend take for any movie thatWill Smith, who stars as the talented assassin known as Deadshot, has ever had, including theMen in Blackmovies....
