This looks super creepy! I know these books scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, and it looks like they’ve kind of made a hardcoreGoosebumpswith a book as the cause of terrors making their way into the real world. I don’t know how they’ll tie the full plot together with different creatures causing different terrors, but I’m curious to see what Øvredal does with this movie. At the very least, I know I’m gonna have nightmares for at least a week because of that damn spider leg.

Here’s the official synopsis forScary Stories to Tell in the Dark:

It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.
