Carrie Bradshaw won’t be back for Season 4 —and neither willAnd Just Like That. Following the surprising news thatAnd Just Like Thatwill end with its third season,Sarah Jessica Parkerhas officially said goodbye to the role that defined a generation. HBO Max confirmed this week that theSex and the Citysequel serieswill conclude with a two-part finale later this season, bringing a 27-year journey — and one of TV’s most iconic characters — to a close. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Parker shared a clip montage of Carrie Bradshaw’s greatest moments, paired with a poetic farewell to the character she first brought to life in 1998.
“Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have. Been frustrated, condemned and rooted for her. The symphony of all those emotions has been the greatest soundtrack and most consequential companion. Therefore the most sentimental and profound gratitude and lifetime of debt. To you all.”

Parker, now 60,reflected on the journeywith deep appreciation for her collaborators, adding thatAnd Just Like Thatwas “a joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us.” She ended her caption with the words “this chapter complete.” The reaction from Parker’s co-stars was equally emotional.Kristin Davis, who has played Charlotte York across both series and the films, wrote:
“I am profoundly sad. I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever.”

Why Was ‘And Just Like That’ Cancelled?
Showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed that the decision to end the series came during the writing of theSeason 3finale. In his words:
“And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of theSex and the Cityuniverse is coming to an end. While I was writing the last episode ofAnd Just Like That… Season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.”

King said the creative team “held off”on sharing the cancellation news until now, so the word “final” wouldn’t overshadow the experience of watching the current season. “It’s with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years,” he said.
Only two episodes remain before the curtain falls for good onAnd Just Like That.
