After Season 3’s incredible “Holes Are Bad” episode revealed howHetty (Rebecca Wisocky)died in a moving bid to rescue Flower (Shiela Carrasco) from the well she’d fallen into, there’s only one spirit onGhostswhose death remains a mystery. And while it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting the answer in Season 4,Román Zaragozais hopeful that we’ll finally learn about Sasappis' death in Season 5 or 6, asGhostshas been renewed for not just one but at least two more seasonson CBS.

I recently sat down with Zaragoza to discuss Sasappis' big romance storyline for Season 4, and during our wide-ranging conversation, he revealed that Sass' death is at the top of his wishlist for future seasons ofGhosts. While he doesn’t have any specifics in mind, he knows exactly the tone he hopes series creatorsJoe PortandJoe Wisemanstrike with it when the show finally gets there. He told Collider:

“A big wish for me as an actor and as a lover of the show is to find out how Sass died. I think that’s a big piece that we’re still missing, andI would love for it to be something so ridiculous that he’s been hiding it for so long. Like, he’s been telling a story, and it turns out that story is completely false, andit’s actually something else incredibly embarrassing. That’s something that I would love to have.”

How Did the Other Ghosts Die?

As a sitcom primarily about a group of dead people,Ghostshas a unique ability to find a way tomake the tragedy of death a little less scaryby finding the humor in it. The eldest ghost, Thor (Devan Chandler Long), died by a lightning strike over 1000 years ago;Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones)died of dysentery during the Revolutionary War — a familiar way to go for anyone who grew up playing The Oregon Trail on the computer. Both Isaac and Thor’s ghost powers are directly connected to how they died. SinceSass can dreamwalk in the minds of the living, is it possible he died while sleepwalking? Or will his power be more loosely connected like the other ghosts?

In Season 3, we learned that Hetty died by suicide, and in Season 1, it was revealed thatTrevor (Asher Grodman)died from a deadly combination of designer drugs. Pete (RichieMoriarty), quite obviously, was felled by an arrow to the neck while teaching his scout troop an archery lesson. Flower tried to befriend a bear after a music festival — drugs were involved, and it did not end well. Finally,Alberta (Danielle Pinnock)had one of the best death reveals when we learned that Hetty’s son murdered her in a 100-year-old murder mystery in Season 2.
