Despite the ironclad non-disclosure agreements that folks involved with anyStar Warsfilms are likely to sign,Star Wars: Episode VIIIdirectorRian Johnsonis more than happy to share some behind-the-scenes images from production. He recently posted a few new looks on his personal Tumblr page that show off some newly arrived characters alongside iconic vehicles from theStar Warsuniverse. And while there aren’t really any spoilers inherent in the photos that would get Johnson in trouble, I like that he’s walking the line just the same.
Now halfway through its shoot,Star Wars: Episode VIIIfeatures the return ofDaisy Ridleyas Rey,Mark Hamillas Luke,John Boyegaas Finn,Oscar Isaacas Poe Dameron,Adam Driveras Kylo Ren,Domhnall Gleesonas General Hux,Lupita Nyong’oas Maz Kanata, and more. “Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the microfiber sham.”
I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!)

It’s clear that Johnson runs a tight (and clean) ship. It’s also apparent thatStar Wars: Episode VIIIwill spend some time aboard an Imperial vessel of some sort-note the Imperial Gunner attire in the image below-and will, of course, feature the Resistance X-Wings. While we’re not sure who’s tasked with keeping the starfighter’s cockpit windows clean, we have a sneaking suspicion that the sneaky pilot hidden almost out of view is none other thanNoah Segan. This longtime collaborator with Johnson has appeared in the director’sBrick,The Brothers Bloom,Looper, and even cameoed in the Johnson-directedBreaking Badepisode, “Ozymandias.” Segan was reported as having a role inStar Wars: Episode VIIIa little over a week ago byBMD.
