It’s here, folks.Comic-Con 2016is underway, and while yesterday was only Preview Night, we’ve already gotten someveryinteresting nuggets out of the geek-centric San Diego convention. Collider’s own Steve Weintraub took to the show floor yesterday and snappedover 200 picturesof everything fromPower Rangershelmets to a giant Olmec fromLegends of the Hidden Temple. But one of the most curious things Steve came across was a booth displaying newSuicide Squadtoys.

Now, given that this is a DC Comics movie, we’re expecting a pretty heavy merchandising push. But one toy in particular here is mighty curious, and that’s a Batman figure. Rather, it’s a Batman-lookingfigure, as it appears to be either The Joker dressed up in a Batman costume or a horribly disfigured version ofBen Affleck’s superhero.

How does this fit into the film?Isit even in the film? We don’t know for sure, butwhen I was on the set ofSuicide Squadlast year, the film’s costume designer showed us a bevy of Batman masks that were to be used in a flashback sequence at one of Joker’s clubs, in which he has all his Go-Go dancers wear Batman masks. You see,Jared Leto’s iteration of The Joker isverymuch into taunting the Caped Crusader, and so it’s possible that this Joker-infused Batsuit is, well, a big joke in the movie rather than some all-important plot point.

In addition to the toy images, Steve snapped photos of some of the costumes on display. So peruse theSuicide Squadimages below, all via Steve Weintraub, and get to speculatin' in the comments.Suicide Squadopens in theaters on August 5th. Click on any photo for high-resolution.

Here’s the official synopsis forSuicide Squad:

Suicide Squad follows the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and takes place in a post-Superman world where the government tries to determine how to respond in the event that an alien with more villainous intentions visits Earth. Ruthless intelligence officer Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) offers to recruit society’s worst criminals, those possessing lethal skills and superhuman powers. Her first target: the possessed archaeologist June Moone/Enchantress (Cara Delevingne).

When Midway City is threatened by a powerful mystical enemy, Waller’s plan gets the go-ahead. She cuts deals with the whole squad of prisoners: Deadshot (Will Smith) gets his Second Amendment rights reinstated, Harley (Margot Robbie) is set free from her cage, Diablo (Jay Hernandez) steps out of his fireproof prison, Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Slipknot (Adam Beach) each get to wield their signature weapons once more, and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) emerges from the swamp. The only condition is this: Obey orders or die. This is strictly enforced by squad leader Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), the samurai Katana (Karen Fukuhara), and of course the explosive devices – developed by Wayne Enterprises – inserted into their necks. However, the arrival of the tatted-up Gotham City mega-criminal, the Joker (Jared Leto), might doom the mission thanks to his plan to reunite with his true love, Harley.
