Suicide Squadjust secured at leastone big record for having the biggest August openingweekend in the history of the box office, unseatingGuardians of the Galaxyin a quick swoop. TheDavid Ayer-helmed DC adaptation had a great first week, but we’re starting to hear more and more about trouble behind the Warner Bros./DC curtain, from interpersonal drama to the shedding of several scenes to make the PG-13 cut. Now, Dark Horizons haslocated a list of rumored cut scenes, viaa Reddit user, which you may take a look at below, that gives us a general sense of what might have been extracted from the original cut of the film.
Mind you, all of this is unconfirmed rumor - a post made by a random user on Reddit. Still, a lot of this sounds accurate, especially withJared Leto’srecent commentsabout myriad cut scenes of the Joker withMargot Robbie' Harley Quinn. There’s also plenty of evidence in the film itself that scenes that built upJai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang andJoel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag more were taken out in order to cut down on runtime and rating concerns. According to CBM, not only was the scene where Flash (Ezra Miller) captures Boomerang added in after the original cut, but scenes where Deadshot fought Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Boomerang’s exit before the climax is explained, and other interactions between Deadshot and Flag, as well as Boomerang and Harley, also found their way onto the cutting room floor.

Ayer has said that the film is his director’s cut, which does not bode well for anyone, but perhaps when this hunk of nonsense hits Blu-ray, we’ll see a few deleted scenes that can either confirm or deny this. Patience, DC fans, patience!

On top of this, another Reddit userhas come forward with a list of differences between the film and the official novelization of the movie. you may check out the list right belowvia CBM:
Description of the extended Ace Chemicals scene: The scene goes as follows:

Joker points down towards the vats. Joker: “There. I was born down there.” Harley stares down. She desperately wants the same. Joker: “Would you die for me?” Harley nods. Harley: “Yes.” Joker: “No… that’s too easy. Would you live for me?” Joker smiles, scaring her. Joker: “Will you embrace me, and only me?” Harley nods vigorously. Joker: “Will you bind your spirit to mine… in hate? Do you consign your soul to me? Do you laugh at the world in disgust?” Harley: “…yes.” Joker: “Do not say this oath thoughtlessly. Desire becomes surrender. Surrender becomes power. Do you want it? Do you really want it?” Harley: “I do. I do.” Joker: “Then goodbye, Doctor Quinzel.” Joker gestures towards the edge of the vat. Without hesitation she jumps. Joker thinks “She’s gone, forever. Problem solved.” He pauses and touches his chest. He feels something. Love? Of course not. He couldn’t see her floating face down and dying. Which was the original plan. He jumps down.
Even if we don’t end up seeing any of these scenes in the DVD/Blu-ray release of Suicide Squad, all of this information gives an inherently fascinating view into Ayer’s and Warner Bros. creative process. If even a quarter of these scenes were included, the movie would have been much different. Not better, necessarily, but much different - I, for one, wanted more Captain Boomerang and a deeper understanding of Flag and Enchantress' relationship. And it would have been nice if Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) was more than a punchline/death machine. Ayer has said that the theatrical cut is also his director’s cut, but that doesn’t mean that there’s any harm in letting some of the scenes and sequences see the light of day.
