Rumors have been swirling recently about whether CBS might move itsSupergirlseries over to its co-owned network (with Warner Brothers), the CW. There were talks of a reduced budget and a move to Vancouver, where theArrow-verse makes its home, and now it seems it has come to pass.

According toTHR, sources are revealing that the DC drama will make the move from sunny L.A. to Vancouver, and join her brethren ofArrow,The Flash, andLegends of Tomorrowwho also film there. ThoughSupergirl, which starsMelissa Benoistas Kara, is set in an alternate universe from these other series (as established theSupergirl/Flashcrossover storyline) and will likely not formally connect to the shows also produced byGerg BerlantiandAli Adler,Supergirldoes seem to fit better with the CW’s demographics, and the move makes a lot of sense.

Supergirlwas always an odd choice for CBS, a network that typically doesn’t take risks and is rewarded for it. CBS’s core demographic also tends to skew older, which is likely a major reason why it wanted to see if it could sustain a series clearly geared towards a younger audience (and some would say, in a criticism of the show, tooyoung). Apparently, it could not.

But, it’s all good news forSupergirlfans, as the show will live one for at least one more season, especially after that cliffhanger finale. Adler recently told THR that,

“Season 2 is going to be more reflective of their past and how they’re going to change their future as a result of it in a really emotional way. We definitely want to continue making more of this show.”

What do you think aboutSupergirl’s move to the CW, and do you think it will (or even should) end up more connected to theArrow-verse? Also, do you think the show’s tone will change at all now that it’s moving to rainy Vancouver and looking to potentially fit in with these other DC series?
