‘Wonder Woman’: New Image Finds Gal Gadot Stealing “God Killer”
As 2017 quickly approaches, the New Year will bring with it the highly-anticipatedWonder Woman.Patty Jenkins’ film carries the weight of not only being the first modern female-led superhero movie, but also trying to finally bring proper footing to the stumbling DC Extended Universe. Everything we’ve seen so far from the movie has been more than encouraging, and in thelatest image,Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince looks as ready as ever for the task at hand.
The newest image fromWonder Womanfinds the princess of the Amazons stealing a sword, named “God Killer”, as she prepares to aid Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) in the war ahead. We’ve seen Diana wield the weapon inBatman v. Supermanwhen battling Doomsday, and it looks like in her standalone film we will see how she got the weapon in the first place. The fact that she looks to be stealing the sword also hints that she might not be getting a lot of support from her mother, queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), in her plans to aid the disastrous world of man.

‘Justice League’: New Image and Cast Additions
In the same year where we will see the third member of DC’s Holy Trinity get her own standalone film, we will also see Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Batman (Ben Affleck) build an alliance of heroes to protect the planet from otherworldly threats inJustice League. This week we got a peak at the team-up in anew image, plusconfirmation of the appearanceof some familiar faces inZack Snyder’s upcoming film.
The latestJustice Leagueimage features Batman and Wonder Woman joined by what we’ve seen is their most willing recruit inEzra Miller’s Flash. The image’s background is reminiscent of a setting we’ve seen in previously released footage, and really makes you curious as to what exactly it is they are gazing at. Noticeably absent areRay Fisher’s Cyborg andJason Momoa’s Aquaman, not to mention Superman (Henry Cavill) who we have not seen at all thus far.

This week also brought confirmation of a couple of familiar cast members who will be making an appearance inJustice League. A cast list release from Warner Bros. confirms thatJesse Eisenberg’s wacky Lex Luthor andConnie Nielsen’s Queen Hippolyta will also be a part ofJustice League. Given the role The Mother Boxes will apparently play in the film and the connections these characters have to the devices, it makes sense they would be connected to the story even if in a small part.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’: ‘Planet Hulk’ Location Confirmed by Director
Since the reveal of Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)’s appearance inThor: Ragnarokand the galactic nature of that film, it was a looming question if thePlanet Hulkstoryline would play into the film in any way. This year Marvel unveiled props from the movie that included “gladiator Hulk armor” pieces, directly hinting that at least a portion of the storyline would play out inTaika Waititi’s upcoming film. Now, the director himself hasbrought to lightanother big part of the comic book storyline that we will see in the film. In some recent comments, Waititi name-dropped planet Sakaar, which is directly related to thePlanet Hulkstoryline, definitively confirming the location forThor: Ragnarok. Now that the inclusion ofPlanet Hulkhas been confirmed, it’ll be interesting to see how big a part it will play in the film and how it relates to the its story as a whole.
‘The LEGO Batman’: New Character Posters Feature the Dark Knight, Boy Wonder, and More
A superhero movie that might not come to mind –and wrongly so– when thinking about the superhero films of 2017 isThe LEGO Batmanmovie, but the film continues to show that it should definitely be on your radar. The latest to come out of the fun promotional campaign are a set ofcharacter postershighlighting some of the many faces we will see in the film. In these character posters we see important players like Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Alfred, along with tag lines that call back toBatman v. SupermanandSuicide Squad. We’ve seen this movie will be playfully making fun of the character and his history, and that one of is perhaps one of its most appealing aspects ofThe LEGO Batman Movie.
