He has spoken. The Chosencreator,Dallas Jenkins, has once again opened up with some fresh updates about the highly-anticipated sixth season of the biblical series and, this time, it’s actuallygoodnews. We’ve known for a while that the next set of episodes won’t be arriving anytime soon, but withSeason 5 set to arrive on Prime Video on June 15, following afinancially profitable run in cinemas, fans at least have something to look forward to. Although no release date has been set for Season 6, Jenkins revealed during a livestream (via ScreenRant), that audiences can look forward to longer episodes.
Keeping his cards close to his chest, the show’s creator, director, and co-scribeteased the sixth season’s impending arrival, sharing, “Season 6, the first six episodes, are going to be coming out sometime next year,” before backtracking, “It won’t be early next year.” Walking a fine line in trying to keep excitement alive for the drama, while alsostaying grounded in reality, Jenkins didn’t want fans to get their hopes up for some sort of miracle to happen during post-production that would allow the installments to come out earlier than expected. At the same time, he didn’t want to discourage followers from writing off the sixth season altogether, so he met them in the middle, revealing, “It’s not like the season’s going to be shorter. In fact, the season’s going to be probably a little longer than normal.”

Cameras have beenrolling on the sixth seasonofThe Chosenfor just under one month, with Jenkins and the rest of the team working night and day to bring audiences perhaps the most famous story from the Bible. Season 5 finally brought audiences to the upper room along with Jesus (Jonathan Roumie) and his disciples, where the group breaks bread and shares what came to be known as The Last Supper. After being betrayed byJudas(Luke Dimyan), the next sequence that will likely lead into Season 6 will be Jesus’ capture at the hands of the Romans, where he’ll then be led to Pontius Pilate (Andrew James Allen) and eventually crucified.
Dallas Jenkins Asked Fans For Patience and Understanding
During its first five seasons,The Chosenquickly rose to become a global phenomenon, raking in viewers left and right. Though fans might be upset that Season 6 is so far away,Jenkins has previously asked that they practice patience, explaining,
“The process of getting these seasons to you at the cadence that we’ve been doing has been extraordinarily taxing on the team. The quality control process has been much faster and tighter than most shows and movies. That’s caused a lot of pain, a lot of challenges… The team that works on this is extraordinarily stretched thin, and so it’s just a very, very difficult process… They’ve been begging me to give a little bit more of a cushion. And so we’re going to definitely be doing that for future seasons.”

The Chosen’s first four seasons are now on Prime Video.
