If you are a fan ofPercy Jackson, the time to celebrate is now. In a surprising move,Disney+announced today that their seriesPercy Jackson and the Olympianshas been officially renewed for Season 3. The news comes way before Season 2 of the adventure series even premieres, which is why Disney took the opportunity to underscore the release window for the next batch of episodes: the second season is slated to hit Disney+ this December.
With this Season 3 renewal announced months in advance, Disney is signaling to fans thatthey trust the material that thePercy Jacksonteam was able to put togetherunder the leadership ofRick Riordan— who is, of course, the author of the best-selling novels. With the renewal, fans of the franchise will see for the very first time a live-action adaptation ofthe third book in the series,The Titan’s Curse. In it, Percy (Walker Scobell) goes on a journey to rescue Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), who is kidnapped by the Atlas. Theshort-lived movie franchiseled byLogan Lerman(We Were The Lucky Ones) never made it as far as Book 3.

In an official statement, author and series creator Riordan celebrated the early renewal and teased the events and characters that fans will see on screen for the first time. He wrote:
“We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+. This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”

‘Percy Jackson’ Season 1 Was a Hit
Disney is expectingPercy Jackson and the Olympian’s second season to have asimilar or better performancethan Season 1. Back in December 2023, the show quickly rose to become one of the Top 5 most-watched titles across all streaming platforms (according to Nielsen), and the #percyjackson hashtag amassed over a billion views. If the show manages to keep that kind of engagement, chances are that fans will finally be able to see the story through the end — andmaybe even beyond.
The renewal for Season 3 has been teased for a while. Last month,Riordan hinted at itby saying he was about to meet withPercy Jackson and the Olympianswriters in order to “discuss potential plans for season three,” but he made it a point to underscore that the show wasn’t officially renewed then. Earlier this week, series showrunnerJonathan Steinbergwas the one to speak about itand stated that the team was “definitely talking” about the new season. Now that the cat is out of the bag, fans can start getting hyped upwith not one but two seasons that are coming their way.
Season 2 ofPercy Jackson and the Olympiansis set to debut on Disney+ this December. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to Collider as the updates come in.
