It’s an abstinence-only ending forThe Sex Lives of College Girls, after efforts to resurrect the canceled Max series have proved futile.Back in March, the network told the comedy drama to get off (not in a good way), axing it after a three-season run. Since then, Warner Bros. Television, the folks behind the project, started working hard to secure another set of episodes that would carry on the story of the young group of friends. Unfortunately, theMindy KalingandJustin Nobleco-created title just can’t seem to seal the deal with any other prospective buyers, making this the end of the road.
In a statement released with the heartbreaking announcement,Channing Dungey, Warner Bros. TV Group chairman told Deadline,

“We were very much hoping to find a new home for that one, and I think we’ve now come to the end of the road, which is disappointing, because it’s a show that we really love. I’m so proud of the three seasons that we did at Max but I don’t think there’s going to be more ofCollege Girls.”
While it isn’t overly clear who prospective buyers were forThe Sex Lives of College Girls, it was previously rumored that WB had shopped the series to Netflix. The comedian, actress, and show creator has already enjoyed a profitable relationship with the streamer, having previously celebrated a four-season run with the comedyNever Have I Ever, and continues to flourish with theKate Hudson-led comedy,Running Point, which was recently picked up for a second season. Still, if the rumors are true, despite their ties, it seems as though the network passed on Kaling’s HBO favorite.

An of the Time Comedy Series
The Sex Life of College Girlswas enticing to people for a multitude of reasons, but it certainly struck a positive chord with a younger demographic who felt represented by the group of friends at the center of the story. Navigating life in their late teens and early 20s, the characters played byPauline Chalamet,Amrit Kaur,Alyah Chanelle Scott, andReneé Rappeach had their own personality and went through struggles unique to them. At the top of the latest season,Rapp stepped down from her role, but the remaining trio continued to walk arm in arm through the trials and tribulations of early adulthood. Also featured in the latest set of episodes was a supporting lineup that includedChristopher Meyer,Renika Williams,Ilia Isorelys Paulino,Gracie LawrenceandMia Rodgers.
The Sex Lives of College Girlsis now streaming in its entirety on Max.
