Daredevil: Born AgainstarCharlie Cox, who plays the role of the titular superhero in the show, believes that his character andTom Holland’sSpider-Manare overdue for a reunion on screen. Cox made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Matt Murdock in the 2021 hit,Spider-Man: No Way Home.In his brief appearance,Murdock acted as Peter Parker’s lawyer after his superhero identity was revealedto the world. WhileDaredevil: Born AgainSeason 1 ended without a Spider-Man cameo, Cox thinks that there’s a lot of story to tell between the two MCU characters.
The actor spoke about wanting to collaborate with Holland again during an interview with Rotten Tomatoes. Cox was joined by his co-star and on-screen nemesisVincent D’Onofrio, who plays the role of Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. According to the MCU star, crossing paths with Spider-Man would be “iconic” for both Daredevil and Kingpin. The Daredevil actor then went on to double down on the whole Daredevil x Spider-Man thing in the following words:

“There’s a lot of story to tell with Spider-Man. If you’re going up into the comics in any way, that will always be an itch that needs to be scratched.”
D’Onofrio agreed with Cox before joking that the web-slinging superhero has a great lawyer in case he runs into trouble with Kingpin. However, thatmight not canonically be possible,as explained by Marvel Television executiveBrad Winderbaumon thePhase Heropodcast. When asked if Spider-Man could appear inBorn Again, he admitted he wasn’t entirely sure what the legal boundaries were. However, he noted that Marvel Studios appears to only have the rights to use Spider-Man in short-form TV —specifically animated content under 30 minutes. That’s why Marvel created the Disney+ animated seriesYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man— because it’s one of the few formats where they’re allowed to use the character.

Cox revealed that he and Garfield joked about their characters not being in each other’s scripts beforeheading out to dinner. However, when they reached the restaurant, they realized how bad it would be if they werespotted together near a Marvel set.“There was a table that had two chairs facing the wall. So we sat facing the wall and tried not to look at each other,” recalled Cox.

But this wasn’t Garfield’s first slip-up. In an interview with Esquire Magazine, the actor revealed that he ordered takeout on his first night in Atlanta, and the delivery guy recognized him. According to Garfield, he was trying to keep his identity under wraps and hiding his face. However, the delivery guy recognized who he was and later took to X to tweet about how rude he was.“I just blew it on multiple levels,”Garfield joked.
