FOX’sThe Cleaning Ladyis one of the network’s best shows, with its fourth season kicking into gear over the past few weeks. After Thony’s (Élodie Yung) and Ramona’s (Kate del Castillo) rivalry reached a dangerous new height inEpisode 7, “Keep the Family Close,“the most recent Episode 8, “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” dialed up the drama, with Ramona arrested for Vanessa’s death, saving her from her brother’s wrath. Later in the episode, the fallout of this major reveal continued, asJorge’s (Santiago Cabrera)life became even more complicated, sending him on a mission to find the cowboy assassin who accompanied Ramona in her misdeeds.
Following the chaos of Episode 8, the promo for Episode 9, “Hearts on Fire,” was released and is available to watch below. Changing the pace of the series from a crime-centric tale to a medical drama for an episode, “Hearts on Fire” puts Thony in the unenviable position of having toperform life-saving surgery on a patient who has a ticking time bomb inside her body. Ideally able to separate herpersonal life from this skilled procedure, the surgery becomes even more difficult for Thony after her patient admits that it was “Sin Cara” who put the bomb inside her, effectively admitting it was Ramona behind the horror in an act of vicious revenge. The official synopsis for the upcoming Episode 8 reads:
“As Thony fights to save a life, she finds herself caught between two men and the ghosts of their pasts; Jorge’s relentless pursuit of vengeance blinds him to the truth.”
‘The Cleaning Lady’ is One of Élodie Yung’s Worst Rated Projects
Despite being the series many might know her for, Yung’s starring role onThe Cleaning Ladyis one of her worst-rated projects. This is according to review aggregatorRotten Tomatoes, whichrates the crime drama at a measly 50%, which is considerably lower than many of her other movies or shows. Yung’s highest-rated television series, with almost double the score ofThe Cleaning Lady, was in fact her breakout role, with many still citing her turn as Elektra Natchios inDaredevilas the best in her career so far.
Her voice work onPrime Video’sSecret LevelandLove, Death + Robotsalso outperformsThe Cleaning Lady, although it is her feature film career where the comparison becomes more varied. 2017’sThe Hitman’s Bodyguardboasts a higher audience score, and the best in her entire filmography, although its critical rating is less than the only score we have forThe Cleaning Lady.The likes ofGods of Egypt, Still, Narcopolis,andG.I. Joe: Retaliationalso underperform compared toThe Cleaning Lady, adding more perspective to a series that is often criticized.
