Paramount has announced an aggressive release schedule for the next threeTransformerssequels. According toDeadline, the studio plans to releaseTransformers 5on August 27, 2025,Transformers 6has been set for June 16, 2025, and we’ll getTransformers 7on June 05, 2025.
While we knewwe were in store for a lot ofTransformersmoviesand that the franchise has no end in sight, it’s still a little surprising to see Paramount want to dateTransformersmovies for three consecutive years.Michael Bayis returning to helmTransformers 5, and the release schedule alone cements that there’s no way he could switch gears to moving towards the sixth installment, so now we’ll have to see who they get to direct6and/or7.
Additionally,Transformersis swinging its weight around on the release calendar.Transformers 5is not backing away from a date that’s already occupied byWonder Woman, and I’m curious to see which film (if either) will blink and change their date. IfBatman v Supermanis a big hit and audiences love Wonder Woman, don’t count on the Amazonian princess to give up her home on the calendar so easily.
Transformers 6, meanwhile, is battling for real estate with another Warner Bros. property—Godzilla 2. Again, we’re so far out from that date I imagine one of them will move, but it might be the King of the Monsters. Audiences can only handle so much destruction, and the question is whether or not theTransformersfranchise will be on the decline by that point. However, asAge of Extinction’s huge worldwide box office proved, audiences are still hungry for these movies.
Thankfully, the 2019 calendar is still pretty open for the time being, and I’m left to wonder if any studio is willing to challenge Paramount for that June 28th date. The fourTransformersmovies thus far have generated $3.77 billion worldwide according to Deadline, and so if you take a swing at an Autobot, you better be confident that you can bring it down.
