The teaser transports viewers to the sunny and sultry days of summer, where a voiceover can be heard walking us through the twisted tale of love, deceit, and longing that will play out over the episodic adaptation. The sun never sets on summer or happiness forCadence (Lind) and her group of friends,who enjoy plenty of time by the beach and at extravagantly lavish house parties. Eventually, the fun train comes to a screeching halt after Cadence is left for dead, which sparks the young woman to uncover the truth about what happened to her. Seeking answers, Cadence’s next summer with her loved ones will be different from the ones that came before it, as she tries to sniff out the person (or persons) responsible for the life-changing event that almost took everything from her.

Backing the highly anticipated adaptation are Plec and Mackenzie, who each have an arsenal of successful credits in their backgrounds. For the former, she’s the co-creator of the hit series,The Vampire Diaries, which she brought to life alongsideScreamcreatorKevin Williamson. Plec is also the creative responsible for the beloved show’s offshoots,The OriginalsandLegacies, and was also the mind behind The CW’sContainment.
As for Mackenzie, the writer and producer brought fans back to the sci-fi world first penned byMelinda Metzin herRoswell Highbook series through the series,Roswell, New Mexico. Their work together onWe Were Liarsmarks a reunion for the pair, who also teamed up onThe Originals.
