After being on the air for five seasons, the end arrived for9-1-1: Lone Staron February 3. The show wasunceremoniously cancelled, leaving its creatives scrambling for a suitable conclusion that made it feel like this chapter had ended, but the story could continue. This contingency left characters in different places where a potential Season 6 could have picked up. Co-showrunnerRashad Raisanitalked toScreenRantabout how the show would have pulled off Season 6 with characters like Owen (Rob Lowe)moving to another city. “I think we would’ve probably played Owen in both places. New York would’ve given us a new pool of stories and cases and environment, but because he would be the dad, and kind of the grandfather to Jonah, we would’ve had an emotional reason to bring it back,” the showrunner said.

Owen has strong ties in Austin with his son TK (Ronen Rubinstein) andTK’s family. Raisani revealed that the show would haverecalled him to Texasat some point, even if he was not in a professional capacity as the captain of the 126. “We were also cooking up some stories in Austin that may have necessitated Owen coming back professionally down the road without taking Judd (Jim Parrack) out of the captaincy,” he revealed. “That would’ve been a really interesting dynamic to play with Judd being more in a superior position to Owen,” he added.

Grace and Owen Would Have Returned in ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Season 6.

Owen had successfully led an arson investigation in Season 2, talents the show might have used him for. “There could have been an interesting job there for Owen to get back down to Austin and kind of have a different role in the show,” the showrunner said. The seasonproceeded without Grace(Sierra McClain) afterMcClain exitedbefore it went into production. The showrunner hoped they “would’ve been able to get her to come back.” He added: “I don’t know if we would’ve, but we would’ve probably given it a more final resolution had we had another year.”

TK also left his job as a paramedic to care for Jonah, something the show would have explored down the line. “Now, I picture that down the road, when Jonah gets older, and he’s back in school, TK will get back out to helping people and saving lives,” said the showrunner. The show would also have explored some fun stories, such as seeingMarjan (Natacha Karam)continue saving lives while bringing forth new life. Raisani teased how that would have played out in Season 6, saying,

“I wish we could have played that storyline more in season 6 of seeing a pregnant firefighter and what that experience is like and what it’s like to be a new mom and be a firefighter. I think that would’ve been a really interesting juxtaposition against TK being a stay-at-home dad and Marjan being a working mom. It would’ve been fun to play that stuff.”

The showrunner’s comments reveal more stories to be told, but unfortunately, that might never happen. Stream9-1-1: Lone Staron Huluto watch all the stories the show has told in the past five years.
