Local copMelanie Scrofanogets a big scare while examining a dead body in a new Collider-exclusive sneak peek from the first episode ofRevival. In addition to the dead rising from their graves in the new horror series, she’s also dealing with a mysterious murder. It’s a reunion between SyFy and Scrofano, who starred in the supernatural action seriesWynonna Earpon the network for four seasons.Revivalwill premiere on SyFy on Thursday, June 12, at 10 p.m. ET; it will stream on Peacock next week.

It’s an icy night in the Wisconsin woods when small-town cop Dana Cypress (Scrofano) stops to investigate a dead animal by the side of the road. It shows no sign of life…but she gets the scare of her life when local fitness enthusiast Lester (Peter Millard) pops up behind her. He almost gives her a heart attack, but theJack LaLanne-styled Lester thinks one could be in her future anyway unless she cuts out the trans fats. Further investigation turns up a dead fox in a trap…and what appears to be several human teeth. Is there a killer on the loose…and if there is, are they among the living, or the undead? You’ll have to tune in toRevivalon SyFy tomorrow night to find out.

What Is ‘Revival’ About?

Dead bodies will be the least of Dana’s problems inRevival, which is adapted from the Image Comics series of the same name byTim SeelyandMike Norton. On one snowy day in Wausau, Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly cease to be deceased. The event becomes known as “Revival Day” and attracts national attention; meanwhile, Dana is busy tracking down a murderer. This is not a zombie series, however; the dead simply return to life, with no hunger for the brains of the living. In addition to Scrofano, the series also starsRomy Weltman(The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh) as Dana’s daughter, Em;David James Elliott(JAG) as her father, Wayne; andAndy McQueen(Mrs. Davis) as Ibrahim Ramin. Canadian actor Scrofano is best known for starring in the title role of SyFy’sWynonna Earp, which concluded with the Tubi-original specialWynonna Earp: Vengeancelast year. She also starred onLetterkennyas gin-and-tonic enthusiast Mrs. McMurray, and will return as Captain Marie Batel on the upcoming third season ofStar Trek: Strange New Worlds.
