However, once it was first announced thatKeanu Reeveswould reprise his titular franchise role in the film, simmering excitement reached a boiling point. Now, with the film closer than ever, we are continuing to learn even more about the extent of Reeves' involvement, especially as greater developments aboutthe wider franchiseare also realized, including a greater understanding of the in-developmentJohn Wick: Chapter 5.
In an interview with GamesRadar+,BallerinadirectorLen Wisemanrevealed ' involvement in the upcoming film, even referencing a specific scene as particularly “iconic.” “He was wonderful to work with.Stepping back from it, you could feel that this is iconic,” Wiseman teased, suggesting that, in whatever capacity, Reeves' Ballerina moment will truly be unforgettable, as is customary for the retired hitman. Wiseman continued, “But also he’s so committed, he’s so hard on himself, and you see why he is who he is.” He then added, “We’ll continue to shoot until the sun goes down to get it right. And there’s a reason that we all line up to watch him, so being able to be a part of that was really fun to see.”

What Is ‘Ballerina’ About?
Long-term franchise directorChad Stahelskihas passed the torch to the aforementioned Wiseman forBallerina, with the film based on a script penned byRebel Moon’sShay Hatten. Reprising their roles from theJohn Wickuniverse alongside Reeves areIan McShaneand the lateLance Reddickas Winston and Charon, respectively, andAnjelica Huston, who returns as The Director, last seen inJohn Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.Norman Reedus, best known for his role inThe Walking Dead, joins as a new addition to the cast, with principal photography beginning way back in late 2022, based in Prague, Czech Republic.The film is scheduled for a Friday, August 23, 2025, release. A synopsis for the spin-off reads:
“Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.”
